Defect

Due to an assembly error, the battery cover may not have been correctly clipped to the floor panel. This may cause loosening of the positive terminal cable connection.

Hazard

There exists the possibility of the battery positive terminal cable loosening and overheating, possibly resulting in a fire in the luggage compartment even if the vehicle is switched off.

Remedy

Consumers should contact their authorised BMW motor vehicle service centre, or call the BMW Group Australia Customer Interaction Centre on freecall: 1 800 813 299. Owners are advised to park their vehicles outdoors until the service has been carried out.
