Defect

The lower handlebar holder may have been manufactured with improper paint application. Additionally, thread locking agent may not have been adequately applied to the stud bolt thread in the lower handlebar holder. Strong external impact may abrade the paint film causing axial force on the stud bolt.

Hazard

With engine vibration, the stud may loosen and fall off, resulting in loss of control.

Remedy

Consumers will be contacted by direct mail. Consumers should contact their local Yamaha dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the motorcycle. For help finding a Yamaha dealer, consumers can go to http://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/ or call 1300 593 600. If you no longer own the motorcycle, please advise Yamaha Motor Australia on 1300 593 600.
