Defect

The grommet in the holder for the speedometer cable shaft wears after a short time, therefore leaving a possibility of the speedometer cable shaft coming into contact with the brake pipe which can result in the brake pipe chafing through.

Hazard

Brake failure.

Remedy

BMW is contacting owners direct, however, if you own or ride one of these motorcycles, contact any authorised BMW Motorcycle Dealer without delay.
