Due to a manufacturing defect, the battery does not meet specifications and may experience an electrical short circuit when fully charged, which could result in a fire.
A vehicle fire may increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, bystanders and/or damage to property.
Owners can contact their most convenient authorised BMW dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible at no charge. Note: Consumers to bring their vehicle’s to the workshop appointment with the state of charge as low as possible. Please do not charge the vehicle via cable. Only operate the vehicle under the conditions described below until the work is complete. Setting using the central display: 1. Settings 2. Drive mode 3. Battery control 4. Set or leave the battery charge on 30%. Please do not use the manual gearshift mechanism, the sport shift on the selector lever or the shift paddles on the steering wheel.
