Category: Light Vehicle · Supplier: KIA AUSTRALIA PTY LTD
Recall date: 31 August 2022
The piston rings fitted to certain vehicles may not meet manufacturing specifications and could cause engine failure and vehicle stalling. This will result in an unexpected loss of vehicle power.
A damaged engine may result in the vehicle staling and/or engine oil leaking, increasing the risk of an accident and/or vehicle fire causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
Owners can contact their local Kia dealership to schedule an appointment to have the engine inspected and replaced if damaged, free of charge. During this inspection, an Engine Control Unit update will be applied to the vehicle as an additional data monitoring tool to detect early signs of engine failure.
