Due to a software issue, the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module (HPCM) may inadvertently shift to neutral while driving, come to a stop and automatically shifting to “Park”. If this occurs and the driver shifts back into drive, the vehicle will enter a limp home mode which provides limited torque at low speeds.

In the event of an engine failure and oil/fuel rupture, oil/fuel might be trapped in the engine compartment. An oil/fuel accumulation in the presence of an ignition source may cause a vehicle fire.
