Due to a manufacturing issue, the front axle brake hoses may deteriorate over time. If this occurs, it could lead to a brake fluid leak resulting in reduced braking performance.

2020–2024 AUDI e-tron GT, RS GT

Due to a manufacturing issue, the cell modules installed in the high voltage battery may be defective. A short circuit could cause a thermal overload and result in a vehicle fire over time. The potential defect can be determined with an initial check.

2018–2022 AUDI E-Tron 55, 55 Sportback

Due to a manufacturing defect, the high voltage battery may experience a thermal overload if charged over 80 percent capacity. If this occurs, the battery could overheat and lead to a vehicle fire.

2023 AUDI Q7, Q8

Due to a manufacturing defect, the front passenger airbag may not have been installed correctly.

2022–2023 AUDI e-tron GT

Due to a manufacturing issue, the sealing of the high-voltage battery housing may reduce overtime, allowing moisture to enter. The moisture may potentially result in an electrical short circuit increasing the risk of fire.

2023 AUDI A4, A5, Q3, TT, Q7, Q8

Due to a manufacturing defect, the outer backrest frame of the front seats may have been incorrectly welded. As a result, the seat frame could fracture.

2019–2023 AUDI A3, Q2

Due to an installation defect, the internal fuse box wiring harness may become loose. If this occurs, the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate, internal, external lamps may switch off, and the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving. Note: In an event of failure, the driver will be able to steer and apply the brakes.

2023 AUDI TT

The welding connection joining the airbag guide channel and the dash panel of the front passenger’s side, may not meet manufacturing specifications. As a result, the front passenger’s airbag may not deploy as intended.

2018–2022 AUDI A6, A7

Due to a manufacturing defect, the indicator that shows the fuel level may not work as intended. This may result in an incorrect display of fuel level and therefore the driver may not be aware when the fuel tank becomes empty.

2018–2022 AUDI A6, A7

Due to its installation position, if there is liquid or liquid droplets spilt on the rear seat bench the control unit for network management may become damaged and fail. A failure of the electronic control unit may have various effects on the vehicle functions. Restricted functions are indicated by warning messages in the instrument cluster. Possible restricted functions could be: Engine – The engine enters emergency running mode and continues running with reduced performance. Gearbox – The automatic gearbox interrupts the power flow in the drive train. Steering – The steering reduces the steering assistance in stages; it may therefore be necessary to use more force to turn the steering wheel as the vehicle slows down.

2018–2021 AUDI Q7, Q8

Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel delivery unit inside the fuel tank may break. If this occurs it could result in the broken pieces damaging the fuel delivery system. This may cause a sudden loss of motive power. Note: This issue may cause the emission control system warning lamp to light up.

2022 AUDI Q3

Due to a manufacturing defect, the rear window glass may have been manufactured out of specification. This may result in uneven stress distribution causing the window glass to break.

2021–2022 AUDI A1

Due to a manufacturing defect, the seat belt monitoring system may not indicate the seat belt status of the occupants as intended. As a result, there may not be a warning when the passengers do not fasten their seat belts.

2012–2017 AUDI A6, A7, A8

Due to a manufacturing issue, the oil supply in the oil strainer to the turbochargers may become clogged and affect engine operation.

2016–2021 AUDI Q5

The previous replacement of the rear axle clamping nuts (as part of the recent recall REC-001665) may have caused a misalignment of the rear axle assembly. This could result in excessive wear to the rear tyres, and may result in a sudden flat tyre and subsequent loss of vehicle control.

1999–2001 AUDI A4, A6, A8, TT and Audi Cabriolet

Affected vehicles may be fitted with a Takata NADI 5-AT driver airbag inflator that could allow moisture to enter the unit and degrade the airbag propellant. If this occurs, the properties of the propellant may be changed so that the propellant does not react as intended during a collision, causing mis-deployment of the airbag.

2019–2021 AUDI e-tron

Due to a manufacturing issue with a braking component the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) function may fail under hard braking.

2019–2021 AUDI Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q8 and Etron

Some nuts fitted to the rear axle assembly did not meet manufacturing specifications and may break. A broken nut may lead to increased movement between the wishbone and hub carrier and a change in the wheel alignment on the rear axle.

2020 AUDI RSQ8

A crack may occur on the cylinder contact surface in the engine, the piston may be damaged or seize during the vehicle’s service life. This could cause the piston to get jammed in the cylinder, which would lead to engine damage. The possibility of the conrod being torn off and the crankcase being pierced, and subsequently of oil escaping, cannot be ruled out, this could result in an engine stall (loss of engine power).

2018–2021 AUDI A4, A5, A6, Q7, Q8

The seatbelt warning (acoustic warning tone and visual display) may occasionally operate rather than continuously, in circumstances such as a seatbelt not fastened or unfastened while the vehicle is moving. If the warning does not sound continuously, a seatbelt may be unbuckled without the driver being informed.

2019–2020 AUDI A6, A7

Due to a manufacturing issue with the vehicle's dash panel, the front passenger airbag may not fully inflate in the event of an accident.

2020 AUDI RS6, Q7, SQ7

A connector may become detached from the crash sensor, which may delay the operation of the side airbag, curtain airbag and/or belt tensioner.

2011–2017 AUDI A8, S8

The engine bay seal may become warped and come loose. If this occurs, engine vibrations may result in the seal making contact with hot components in the engine bay.

2020 AUDI Q5

Due to incorrect welding, the gap on the adjusting mechanism for the backrest of the front seats may be faulty.

2011–2012 AUDI A1, A3, TT

Due to a production fault, over time a crack in the transmission’s pressure accumulator can occur.

2014–2019 AUDI TT

If the vehicle is involved in an accident, a bracket fitted on the vehicle body could collide with the fuel tank, resulting in damage to the fuel tank.

2019–2020 AUDI A4, A5, A6, A7

Moisture may enter via a gap in the housing of the starter-alternator, potentially causing the component to overheat.

A gearbox oil pipe may have been incorrectly welded, which can result in a transmission oil leakage.

2007–2016 AUDI A1, A3, TT

Due to a production fault, over time a crack in the transmissions pressure accumulator can occur. Some vehicles were incorrectly assessed as not needing to be repaired.

0 AUDI Q7, SQ7, Q8

The bolted connection between the steering shaft and the steering rack may not be tightened to the required torque, which could lead to the bolted connection loosening.

2018–2019 AUDI Q7

If the airbag is triggered in an accident, the fastener securing an air duct component in the curtain airbag may detach. This may cause the curtain airbag not to inflate sufficiently.

2009–2016 AUDI A8

When the hydraulic system for the power steering is under a high pressure load, or when the steering is in full lock, or if there are heavy vibrations due to uneven road surface, the hydraulic return hose for the power steering may leak.

2018–2019 AUDI A8

The wheel rims on the vehicle do not meet strength specifications. If an affected vehicle hits the kerb or crosses speed humps or uneven road conditions at high speed, the wheel spokes could potentially break.

1997–2000 AUDI A4, A6, A8, TT, CABRIOLET

Tyres of the type “Sport Maxx RT Noise Shield 265/30 ZR 20”, which were supplied by the Dunlop company, do not fully comply with the approval test requirements of UN/ECE R30 which was the evidence used to certify to Australian Design Rule ADR 23/02.

2013–2018 AUDI A4,A5 (8K, 8T) 3.0 TFSI

On certain vehicles, it is possible that fuel may escape from one or both fuel rails (low-pressure side).

Individual bolted connections on the front axle may not have been tightened to the specified torque.

A rear seat backrest may be fitted on which the mounting for the head restraint is not correctly welded to the outer backrest frame for the rear seat.

Audi R8 vehicles could have a possible oil leakage in the gearbox breather when the vehicle is being driven on a racetrack and extreme driving manoeuvres are being undertaken.

A fault in the manufacturing process for the rear hub carriers has caused a discrepancy in the material hardness. As the durability of the affected hub carriers cannot be assured, there is a possibility that the bolted connections may become detached or the component may fail.

On affected vehicles and only when an emergency braking function is initiated via the Electro-mechanical Parking Brake (EPB) button, the brake lights at the rear of the vehicle fail to illuminate. The basic operability of the brakes and brake lights are not affected by this issue when braking via the regular service brake foot pedal.

On affected vehicles manufactured with a specific period, foreign particles in the coolant may lead to a blockage in the additional coolant pump and cause the pump to overheat.

A fault in an earth connection on the ESC control unit may occur due to excessive thermo-mechanical strain on components in the control unit.

2010–2016 AUDI Q5

On affected vehicles, if the water drain in the area of the panoramic sunroof is not functioning properly, water can seep into the vehicle’s headliner.

On affected vehicles, there are irregularities in the mix ratio of the igniting agent in some airbag units or belt tensioners which could lead to the airbags/belt tensioners not triggering in the event of an accident.

On affected vehicles, indentations on the cross piece of the third row of seats were not designed and subsequently manufactured as per correct specifications.

On affected vehicles fitted with the 4.2L FSI engine, leaks may occur in the solenoid valve which controls the gearbox heating circuit.

On affected vehicles, it is possible that the glass panel is insufficiently bonded to the sliding sunroof frame due to the bonding surfaces not being clean during the production process.

On Audi A1, A3 and TT model vehicles with a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG) manufactured within a specific period, conductive deposits may form in the gearbox control unit (due to electrolysis). These accumulations settle between the conductor paths of the electronics in the form of conductive particles and can therefore cause an electrical short circuit and the gearbox fuse could blow. Should this happen, the clutch will fully open due to power supply failure, causing the vehicle to roll to a stop if in motion.

Audi has been made aware recently that due to manufacturing tolerances, the fuel line may become damaged after a period of time on Audi S6, RS 6 and S7 vehicles manufactured within a specific period.

0 AUDI A8

Audi A8 vehicles with glass sliding/tilting sunroof (PR number 3FE) manufactured within a specific period, an unfavourable stress distribution was set up in the glass roof panel during production. This can cause the glass panel to break unexpectedly. This usually happens when a door is slammed closed while the vehicle is stationary.

2008–2011 AUDI A1 & A3

Due to electrolysis, the DSG transmissions are susceptible to conductive deposits forming in the gearbox control units, possibly causing the gearbox fuse to blow. Should this happen, the clutch will fully open due to power supply failure, causing the vehicle to roll to a stop if in motion.

At temperatures below -20 degrees celsius, the glass-sliding sunroof may suddenly break.

Leaks may occur in the high-pressure fuel lines due to faulty pipe material.

There is a possibility that the control unit in the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) can cause a false temperature signal indicating that the clutch is overloaded. If this should happen, the control unit will open the clutch in order to protect the gearbox. As a consequence, the clutch protection function is activated, resulting in flashing gear-change indicator, uneven transmission of power, reduced engine torque and release of clutch.

In the event of an accident in which the seat belt tensioners are triggered, the rear side pillar trim can come loose at the front mounting. The trim would then move into the passenger compartment in an uncontrolled manner, causing in increased injury risk for both the front and the rear passengers.

In isolated cases the power-operated tailgate on vehicles may close unexpectedly and abruptly, shortly after being opened using the power function.

A condition exists on some of the vehicles, which in exceptional circumstances and due to inappropriate software programming of the airbag deployment trigger sensor, may, in a worst case situation delay the deployment of both front driver and passenger airbags in the event of an accident.
